MM&E was established by Byron Christos in 1987 as a Mining Contracting Company with particular emphasis on mechanising of underground operations in the Gold and Platinum Mining industries. Over the subsequent years the company developed a range of mining equipment including water jets, hydropower drilling systems, vacuum systems, rigs, winches and chainsaws, all manufactured in-house at its extensive facilities situated at the old Doornfontein Gold Mine in Carletonville. The Company has established a reputation for Service Excellence

MM&E employs a workforce of approximately 850 in the field, of which 40% are involved in cleaning contracts and the remainder in onsite maintenance contracts
